Necessary, revitalising, fun

The staff is amazing and most helpful! Special shout-out to Nayereh, James and others who are amazing, kind, caring, considerate and helpful people who work at Meininger! Much love! As always I love the cleanliness of the hotel, the peacefulness and interior design of my room, with views to die for and amazing central location, where you can get anything you need from travel, to food, to amenities. The shared kitchen always remains clean and sanitary, some guests tend to be very friendly and considerate of others. I liked most of my roommates during my stay, it was a breath of fresh air to have nice, kind, cool roommates (I travel often) Overall great stay!

The shared kitchen can be very busy and overwhelming (especially for someone with social anxiety) and some guests tend to be rude and less considerate than others. One of my roommates snored really loudly which creeped me out.

Good

Location is fairly near to city center, you will need to take a train (around 10 mins) but the train station is really on the side of the hotel, make it even easier.

In general the room was clean, but we found the floor's drainage of the bathroom was clogged. Seems like the staff did not pay attention on this when do house keeping.

Happy enough but wouldn’t pay £220ish for two nights again

Very cool reception, nice vibes in the hotel, bathroom was massive and so was the room. Good location too.

Receptionist when we arrived wasn’t exactly exuding “welcome.” A little straight faced and didn’t seem too friendly. Rooms need some updating, marks on the walls/doors. Pretty sure our door had a small chunk taken out the bottom. The heating was so loud as well.

A good place but a little cold

The hotel is literally a few steps from the train station. The staff is very nice. I didn't try the food but the people that were with me said it was amazing and worth the money. The reception is 24 hours so whenever something comes up you can ask them.

The AC can only be turned to 23°C and it was very cold in the room. I didn't find anything else I didn't like.

Will definitely go back

Beautiful hotel, exceptionally clean, and has gorgeous decor. Sumptuous breakfast and very comfortable beds. The air hockey table was great fun for our boys (this should be free perhaps) Location is absolutely ideal & literally next door to the train station. The lockers are a fabulous idea too. Always so many helpful staff at reception nobody was left waiting despite huge numbers of guests.

The heating didn't work in our room we mentioned it twice at reception, a maintenance person worked on it but unfortunately it wasn't warm. We also asked 3 times to have our room cleaned as there were 4 of us staying there but unfortunately, it never happened. Clearing our plates, cups & glasses into bins was unappealing to be honest as the food bin was overflowing & the liquid bin was gross.

I stayed in a single room, was excellent for a solo traveller.

The staff here were really uncomfortable to speak with. A lot of side eyes when entering the hostel late at night which felt unpleasant. The hostel itself is somewhat far away, if you you use the metro. 5 minutes to the city centre with the train (4-5 euros) each way.. which adds up. Don’t stay here if you’re only seeing Amsterdam for a long period of time

Good location but small room

Good location. Very close to the train station as well as tram and bus. Restaurants and Supermarket very close to the hotel, which is vert convenient. 20 minute ride to the city center by tram or bus. Good staff.

Crowded Hotel. Crowded and noisy reception at all times. Looked like an hostel. Pictures of the Hotel are deceiving, Rooms are a lot smaller than they look. I was a bit disapointed. Before check in and after check out you have to pay to leave your luggage, so I didn't like the fact to pay 3€ for each 2 hours for our bags. I understand that in such a big Hotel it is a easy way to make money. Small room for a family of 3.
